In the appropriate checkboxes and text areas within the Agreement, a parent can provide their requirements for many childcare roles: food and feeding schedules; bathing and cleaning (how often, what products used and what safety measures you require for bath time, etc.); nap time schedules and routines (e.g. story time or reading certain books, etc.); pick up and drop off from daycare or other outside location; child play date expectations and locations; “field trips” or educational opportunities can be described and detailed; safety issues can be defined (e.g. limiting cell phone use for provider and child, sleeping safety issues, etc.); describing in detail what the provider must clean and how to do so; what clothing is appropriate; how to diaper and what diaper products should be used (and logged); specific food preparation issues (in case of allergies or food intolerances); whether the children can watch TV or use iPads or phones can and when and for how long and for what purpose; to describe what specific activities the provider is expected to perform with the child or infant; and much more.
As part of the agreement, the parents and the provider can be precise in the expectations of work hours. The Agreement allows the selection of times the provider is expected to work. The parties can also address the need for additional hours beyond the standard work week, overnight care (if required or desired), any expectation if the provider will travel with the parent, the need for extra care if a parent is sick, etc.
The more detail that can be provided in the Agreement, the more the parties will understand their expectations and obligations — and the limits on the other’s time.

For example, the parents can detail how they wish to address crying and sleep challenges or detail preferences for managing or disciplining behavior issues. The parents can also describe their beliefs and philosophy about nutrition, safety, play, religious instruction, or other areas of care or education.
Likewise, information regarding the parents’ obligations can and should be provided within the Agreement. Specifics regarding compensation paid to the childcare provider must be inserted into the Agreement to set clear expectations regarding payment at the start of the relationship.
If the Parent wishes to include additional provisions or guidance within this Agreement past the text areas provided, the agreement is set up so that the parent(s) can write those provisions on a separate sheet of paper and attach them to the Agreement as an Addendum, in which case both parties should sign signifying that it is part of the Agreement.
Providing clear and specific details within the Agreement is critical to creating a workable framework for both the parents and the nanny.
